Of a REAL patriotic big old tatty zap on Jay. Next will be tons of color. Can’t wait!

I just got a call from one of the awesome volunteers at the Ohio Wildlife center..Pepper is fully recovered! He’s all sewn up and will be going to a good home. I’m so grateful to the volunteer who has taken such an interest in domestic ducks and has a network of caring people who can give these guys a safe and healthy home.

She says that Pepper’s new home has lots of lady ducks there, so he’s sure to be a happy dude. I’m so glad!

A chapter has ended…

First, I’d like to say thanks to Envy Skin Gallery and Billy Hill. He runs a nice, beautiful shop, and has trusted me enough to open his vast world of knowledge. He took me under his wing last year and taught me as much as I was willing to learn. I believe I worked my butt off and had a great experience in the process. You’re a good dude, BH, and thanks for everything.

A new chapter has just begun…

Sometimes a person needs to get out and spread their wings. You can only teach so much; sometimes you just have to jump off the branch and hope these feathers lift you up. Yeah, I’m a bird dork- don’t be hating!

So I’d like to announce I have left Envy and I’m now working at Cap City Tattoo Co.

It’s a great little shop run by awesome artist, Alli MacGregor. It’s an old art gallery converted to tattoo shop with just two artists (myself and Alli) and Brian the apprentice. It’s cute, quiet, laid back and in a nice little section of Old Town East, just north of Carabar and across the street from Black Creek Bistro and Chop Chop Gallery. So yeah, it’s a cool little neighborhood! I’m really excited to be closer to downtown and the creative scene in Columbus.

I haven’t worked out my schedule completely but I’m open for any and all new projects you might be planning! And of course walk-ins are welcome also.

And now for tatty zaps and artwork:

Did you see this? This was a skull I did back in November on fellow artist, Damon Ark. Well, here’s the healed up evilness.

And here’s Emmitt, the little guy with a big heart.

Let’s hear it for Tom! Tom is a fire fighter with Columbus Fire Department and also an ex-Marine. We’re working on this inspiring 1/2 sleeve and almost done…

As always, thank you very much for your time. I’m very thankful to be able to create these things for you. And if you’d like to discuss any art or tattoo projects, feel free to contact me. I’d love to work with you on your next project.

Thanks!

Check him out! Jackson! My nephew will kick your ass. Born 1/24/2010 at about 3 in the afternoon.

2 weeks ago, we had a incident with one of the domesticated ducks that has appeared in our housing development. We called him “Pepper” because he was spotted black and white, and his companion was completely white (Salt) so therefore his black spots make him Pepper.

These two were probably fed every single carbohydrate imaginable thanks to the neighborhood kids. They were so cute. But they didn’t belong to anybody. They couldn’t fly and no one knew what they did during the rough weather in the winter months.

Well. You’ll notice that I’m speaking in the past tense. One morning, two weeks ago, I had opened my front door to hear the rustling of feathers nearby. Pepper! What are you doing nestled in our bushes? And where’s Salt? What the…

Pepper scurried up onto my porch and I was in disbelief, because he never got so close to me before. Well, he was not in good shape. He was covered in dried blood and had a chunk taken out of his neck. I started to panic.

I screamed and Andy to come quick oh my god Pepper’s here Pepper’s here! Then I ran through the 6 inches of snow over to Peggy’s house. (Peggy is the affable matriarch of the neighborhood and devoted lover of cute animals.)

When my exasperated self came to Peggy’s she told me that Salt was dead, and she assumed that Pepper was as well. Nope, Pepper is on my porch!

We decided that we need to do something with Pepper. Pepper would otherwise die on my porch. So I called some area veterinarians, and they either weren’t open yet or told me they can’t help. There was only one thing left to try. With Andy’s help, we got Lucy’s crate (sorry, Lucy) and shuffled Pepper into it. Pepper proceeded to sit in the back of my Honda Fit.

It’s not every day that I have a duck in my back seat. (I wish it was, though!) I drove to the Ohio Wildlife Center because they’re the only ones that could help. I told the nice people there that I had a duck. I really give credit to the volunteers there. They don’t treat domestic animals but they understood that this is a situation where an animal is in between a “pet” and “wild.” They’re not equipped to handle all the birds that unscrupulous people purchase and put at ponds because they think it looks nice. However, they decided to try help me, and I appreciate that.

The intake process was very formalized and I filled out some paperwork. They do not accept calls checking in on specific critters, but they give you the option to be contacted once the treatment is finished. Well, I haven’t heard anything yet.

I’ve been fretting that I possibly made a mistake when writing down my email address? Could that be it? I hope I hear something, either good or bad, soon.
Viva el Pepper!

Nik came in and we got some more work done on his 1/2 sleeve. The waves were lots of fun. Next time I get to work on the octopus. Can’t wait!

I was going to write a post, but I’m watching a DVR’d episode of Modern Family which is one of my favorite shows these days. I’ve grown very fond of some of the characters already, like the loveable wise-beyond-his-years 10-year old chubby romantic Manny, and of course Cam and Mitchell, the hilarious gay parents who adopted a cute little Vietnamese baby. Oh look, Benjamin Bratt is guest-starring as Manny’s dad…

Tom is having me work on this patriotic half sleeve. I feel we finally got it to a place that is worth showing. Not done yet, but only another sessin to go.
