I got to tattoo this weekend at the shop! Pretty cool. Just a little tiny silhouette of a bird on a Ashley’s wrist. And on Friday I hooked up Rachelle (my step sister) with some text on her shoulder. Love it.
For angelique.

Sometimes your teacher asks you to take all of the ink from one bottle and put it in another bottle. Sometimes the ink is really thick and tough to deal with. Sometimes you’re trying to squeeze the ink out of one and into the other and the air pressure splatters ink everywhere. Sometimes it gets all over your FACE:

I love seeing all the ducks and geese pairing off. Indeed, there is quite a lot of romantic drama going on in Central Ohio’s bodies of water. I saw three male mallards fighting with each other today. I didn’t know where the lady in question was, but she must have been quite the catch.
As for the geese, they seem to have paired off already. I like when the male stands guard, and the female sits on the ground. Don’t you dare come near them! Don’t!
Soon enough, you’ll see Pops up front, and Moms in the back, with 2, 3, 4 yellow fuzzy dudes in between. It’s delightful.
It seems our blog admin is messed up. We cant log into the backend. Bummer. So how am I doing this? From my phone. Testing…
Has anyone heard about the Food Modernization Act of 2009 (bill HR 875)? It’s being debated in the house right now. To quote Campaign for Liberty:
It “Effectively criminalizes organic farming but doesn’t actually use the word organic.”

thanks for taking the time…
Since the weather has been nice the past few days, I’ve been enjoying walking with the Lucy. This evening, I ran into our neighbor Peggy. Peggy is the kind of neighbor that knows everyone and knows everything going on in the neighborhood. When we see her walking with her West Highland Terrier Baxter, she’s always got a smile and a juicy story or two.
Today, our chat centered around dumbass neighbors and their mistreatment of their pets. It’s common and it’s nerve-wracking: people not walking their dogs, caging them up in the garage, tying them outside in the cold, dog crap everywhere, letting their cats loose (and not fixed), etc. etc. It was a veritable bitch fest.
Peggy knows what the heck is up.
That’s the story right now. Back to the basics. Hearts, roses, flowers, butterflies. Got to spend the day at the shop yesterday. Place is awesome. So well run, so clean, such a great environment. Billy really has built something he can be proud of.
Did some drawings:

Think I’m going to flesh this idea out a little more, kind of like it. I could see someone getting this on their ribs. No?
Then I did a few cherry blossoms. I’m hoping a friend at work will let me convert her current bad tattoos into some sweet cherry blossoms…

Shitty picks. Sorry. I took them really quick this morning before heading into one of my jobs. So yeah, here’s the deal. I currently have two part time jobs and an apprenticeship, but it’s actually pretty low stress and I’m digging it. Both jobs are about 30 hours total of work and then I’m going to start heading into Envy four days a week. Awesome. And I’ll actually have time to ride my bike also. Imagine that. Sometimes the stars do line up.
Literally.
I did it. I finally succeeded on a mission that has plagued me for at least ten years. I would always fail. I’d give in to the itch. But not this time punk. I even got a ‘great beard’ from the resident beard guy at work. That was the confirmation of my hard work:

And then comes the fun…

Did you see this man yesterday? Did you run in fear that he’d kick your ass? Did your children duck behind trees, whispering ‘God DAMN! that’s one bad ass dude.’ Did they??? I went to the bank and they just gave me all there money. I pulled up on my bicycle next to a Harley and the dude just jumped off his machine and started running in fear of the bad ass facial hair.
It’s all true.
But now it’s gone. Back to normal. Clean shaven. Party is over.
I’ve been crocheting a lot and not finishing anything. Since I am finally on Ravelry, I decided it was time to look at my yarn stash and organize it somehow. I made a big mess.

But I got through all of it. Now it’s all organized by yarn weight. Yesss.
I have been working on this throw… I put it away for a while and dug it out again yesterday. It’s going to be a gift, eventually. Carlos is checking to make sure it’s all ready to assemble.

He says it is too small, and I agree with him. He said that I should do a couple of borders around the whole thing and see how that does. He’s so smart.
Angelique is pissed at me (with good reason)! I told my great job of almost six years that I’m quitting. I get paid very nicely, I have a great cushy job, I’m the ‘bread winner’ and I’m throwing it all away. I’ve put us in a very tough spot. We very well might lose our (not so) lovely house, we might have terrible financial hardship. We might be eating bread and water this summer. And she’s very worried about that. Rightfully so. I can’t tell her anything to make it better. I can’t change what I’ve done. I can only hope that the gamble I have taken will pay off.
So I put in my notice in at Ares. I’m going to take a part time graphic design job at Trek Store Columbus. I’ll be handling all of there advertising, POP and website work. And I’m going to work my butt off at Envy to get this ball rolling as fast as possible. Wish us luck.
Here’s last nights homework assignment:

Shitty photo of a pencil drawing.
