This is what I had meant to post before but it somehow didn’t work.

The genius Amy Sedaris, with the help of Todd Oldham, on the Chelsea Lately show.

So it was just announced that the cross nationals will be at Bend, OR for the next two years. So I started my research on it. It looks like a funky little city. Google maps shows a lot of intereting stuff. I’d like to finally go to one of these soon. But then I started seeing a few interesting things around Bend. Now I’d like to go there in the spring/fall to see all the birds! Check out the Malheur National Wildlife Reserve. Yeah, the website is pretty lame. But the place is HUGE! Over 320 bird species and 50+ mammals. The place looks beautiful. Pic stolen from here (thank you for the inspiration!)
Source of above picture It has very little to do with Bend or Malheur but is in Oregon, its about a 2.5 hour drive from Bend. Gotta love google maps sporting the crazy circle grids!

Just east of the above link is this gem also!

Someone please tell me what it is!

See you after x-mas. Enjoy yours…

Kaptain Katsu came in on Saturday afternoon. We got a good start to his Buddha half sleeve. It was by far the largest most complex work I’ve done to date. We got about 3 hours worth of work into it. Got all of the lines hit and did most of the black work. Next session we’ll go and shade off all the black and do a lot of graywash. We’ll clean this bad boy up.

Can’t wait to get into the second session. Tons of graywash and shading to get this thing up to top level.
Sunday was spent with Angelique. We started the day at Whole World for our favorite breakfast. Then on to shopping at Scott Antique. I was looking for some old school religious art and 50’s prints. Found both. Angelique found a ton of great vintage christmas decor. Very cheap. Good times. Next we went to Easton. Why!? Went grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s. Got lots of yummys. Then walked the (fake) town. That place is so weird.

No. You don’t understand. He loves beer! He yells at me if I don’t take the time to smell the bokay before I start drinking it. He knows what brand of hops goes into his favorite beers. I don’t even want to know what his weekly budget for beer is. Which brings me to his true passion. I. P. A.s, with the more hops the better. So he got a nice hop bud tattooed on his other leg (to balance out number 8).

That’s number 20. Progress is slow but steady.

So I got to do a really nice tattoo on Mike Merchant last night. He loves beer. He loves beer with lots of hops. The more the merry. So he got a nice hop tattooed on his leg. It came out great I thought. Nice and colorful with bright green highlights and light blue undertones. I took all these photos, assured that at least one would be a decent image. But when I went to check this morning… All deleted. Ahhh!

So here’s a photo of an upcoming tattoo I’m going to do on Amanda Sproat, the best moutain bike rider in Ohio. Can’t wait.

She wants me to get rid of the sword though! No death for her.
And I ordered some business cards yesterday…

It’s all coming together.

One day last week, like most days, I was listening to NPR while driving home from work. Robert Siegel did a story on a suburban “edge” city in the Washington, D.C. area. It was one of those times where something I heard on the radio stirred up emotions so strong that I wanted to roll down my window and yell to anyone who would listen. Let me see if I can articulate my thoughts even a little bit.
The city profiled in the story, Tysons Corner, Va., sounds a lot like the Polaris area of Columbus. Actually, it sounds like a lot of the “newer” parts of Columbus. Polaris, Powell, etc. etc. They’re all generic, car-centric, pedestrian unfriendly, nothing but strip malls and parking lots. Each of the new developments in these suburbs looks exactly like the other. If you are blindfolded and driven to one of them, you might not know which part of town you’re in.

Okay, well, I exaggerate a little. But it’s especially notable that most of these new developments are supposed to be more appealing with their brick construction and faux colonial New England facades with signs for Walgreens or McDonald. Oh, it’s lame. And all this is going on while other parts of Columbus, for one reason or another, are basically rotting.

To get back to the correlation to the NPR story, the city planners are now launching a 30-year plan to basically reverse the dumb development by creating sidewalks, green spaces, residential areas.
I read an editorial a while back about the sprawl in Columbus. The person said something like, “these developments are not going to create a German Village or Victorian Village.” It’s true. And it’s SO OBVIOUS. So WHY do they do things like this?!
Taken from the NPR story, “The 30-year plan for Tysons isn’t like a plan to restore an old place: You can’t peel away the clumsy construction of the 1970s and then work with the remains of a charming older city somewhere beneath.”

What I see happening in central Ohio is clumsy construction of the 90’s and 2000’s which will seem just as stupid in 30 years as the other “unfashionable” areas of Columbus that were developed in the 60’s and 70’s. Duh. Duh.

This is why we’re Kunstler fans.

deeeeezed.jpg

Here’s a recent pic of deezed. She’s dirty. We like to say she’s half feral. She’s a crackhead and tougher than nails. She likes using dirty clothes (like old sweaty bike gear!) as blankets and dirty shoes as pillows. She’s cracked and that’s why we love her!
This is what I dream about lately. I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Seen this? Fucking hilarious.

This is for all you pot heads! A quote: I made marijuana butter for my son.  Now there is a delicious marijuana butter sitting in the fridge.  He says “My morning toast is a dream, thanks mom”.

Amazing Vegan Roast.
Best I’ve ever had. Ever. They have it at Whole Foods.

Check back soon. Ive got lots of good tattoo’s coming up. Doing a colorful tribute to hops on Merchant. A Buddhist 1/4 arm sleeve on Katsu. A dragon on Amanda. Good stuff.

Yellow knickers and the red t-shirt. Yeah, that’s me! No wonder I get made fun of all through junior high. Damn! Look at those things. ha ha. Mom made those for me. They where my poor mans ‘jams’.

I’m always troubled by the site of a toilet lid that’s closed in a mens bathroom. Never know what kind of surprise is in store.

Back to work…

Here’s number 17. Done on Neil’s ankle. Continuing with the coral reef them of his other tat.

neils-starfish-web.jpg

This one was interesting. I tried a few new techniques. This is the first one with a three color blend and a custom mixed color. It goes red, then a custom orange/red/black and then just black. I also went back and hit it with white and yellow highlights. Was going to put in a drop shadow but want to wait since I think we’re going to do a coral reef background.
