I have 9 Webkinz now. That’s nothing compared to most aficionados, but I thought I’d list, in true 10 year-old kid fashion, all the dudes in my corral.

Here they are, in order of acquisition:

1. Ricki Ricardo Raccoon, so named because I had to think of a name really quick, and that’s what I came up with. The raccoon was a Christmas gift from Debra Johnson. She is single-handedly responsible for all of this madness. She’s the pusher!

2. Sabine Snake. I like the name Sabine. What do you think of that, Sabine Rothmund? I named a Webkinz after you!

3. Tofu Scramble Frog. I’ve been dying to call one of my Webkinz Tofu Scramble. Why, you ask? Why not, I say!

4. Happy Cat. Named after Matthew Johnson, age 6, who chose the “alley cat” for my birthday present. His nickname is “Happy.”

5. Nee Nee Elephant. Named after Jordan Johnson, 7, who picked out the elephant for my birthday. Her nickname is “Nini.”

6.Tina Fey Turtle. The turtle is so funny, hence the name Tina Fey.

7. Pickles Platypus. Andy named her after his aunt Pickles. Plus, she looks like a pickle. Well, she really looks like a white, furry, eggplant.

8. Boca Patty Chicken. I was going to name her Chik’n Patty, but I thought that my vegetarian intentions would have gone unrecognized.

9. Dewi Dog. This little girl has a good Indonesian name.

Like I said, I didn’t buy my first one. It was given to me. Then, there was Webkinz Day at all the area retailers, so it was buy-one, get-one. What a good deal. So I brought home 2 that day. Then Debra, the pusher, gave me 2 for my birthday, and one for dog-sitting. Then a surprise package came in the mail from my sister Trisha, and it was the platypus I’ve loved from day one. So after that, I’m like, aw heck. I’m buying the chicken. The chicken is sooo cute. And then I saw that Walgreens was selling the baby pets (“Lil’ Kinz”), so I had to get one of those.

If I am out-and-about, and I see him…I’m getting the big fat white duck that waddles around and has rosy cheeks. Yeeah!

Here is a candid shot of everyone in the Wizard/Pirate-themed kitchen. Ricki is on the magic flying carpet!

I just watched a block of Weezer videos on fuse. Ah, Weezer. The first and second albums hold a very dear place in my heart. And Weezer is definitely one of my top concerts ever. I only saw them one time, and it was for the Pinkerton album. I really love Pinkerton.
I’m not really a fan of their current music. In fact, all of their albums after Matt Sharp left. Andy articulated it best, and I agree. We both agree that they’re not as good now. Not in the same way. They’re pretty much dead to me now. Well, that’s harsh…they have had some okay songs since then (i.e. “Island in the Sun.”) But I mean, “‘Beverly Hills?” Come on, dudes. That’s just not a very good song. Obviously Matt Sharp brought something kooky to the band that is missing now. I know they’re all so talented…but I miss Matt.
Anyway, Weezer’s drummer, Patrick Wilson, just happens, in my opinion, to look like my very own Andy Johnson. I was watching the video for the Sweater Song, and noticed how highly Andy-licious he is in that video. He’s a tall, physical dude with glasses, and he was wearing an Andy-lish outfit, circa 1996: short-sleeved button down shirt and shorts. Although he does seem to have more hair than Andy (sorry honey!) but still. Remarkable!

I also think that Andy used to look just a little bit like the drummer from the Promise Ring. Two famous drummers, both Andy-licious. Or is just me?

Ok. Are there really that many people concerned about their girth? Really? I (my work email) gets at least 50 emails a day that says ‘make it count in bed’ or ‘Size matters’ or ‘please her all night’ or the ever clever ‘enjoy a huge member’. Is this a national epidemic? Is this what’s on our minds day in day out? I think about bikes and food and Angelique dancing. She hasn’t kooky danced in a few days. I’ll have to mention that to her. Cut the rug lady! In other related dancing moves imagine this: She was trying to get me to go up and do running man at the Asian fest with the Indian dancers. Now that’s a good sight.

Poison Ivy update: Arm is almost dried up, mostly scabs. But my leg (back of knee) is still a mess. I must have been scratched by a tree or something. It’s all swollen and nasty but slowly drying up.

Me and the Nato-nater (just made that up) are heading to the Mohican 100 tonight. Wish us (and the weather) lots of luck. I’m going to really need it. I’m only doing the 100k but I’m still looking at a good 8 hours in the saddle. Damn! First time in a tent in like 12 years probably. Eat your wheaties.

This is pretty amazing!

The tour de france is awesome but the Giro is beautiful.

If you didn’t know already…Webkinz obviously knows what’s up! Look at this! The “Daily Bonus Question!” They did me proud!

Not much to say really. I have a good case of poison ivy I’m fighting. I fucking hate poison ivy. I use to get it so bad as a kid that I’d have to stay at home while all the other kids where out building bmx jumps in the woods. Must have picked it up during one of my many crashes at the Wilds race. The ticks didn’t get me, so the ivy did. Bastards.

Did the first century of the year Saturday. Got lost just south of Butler, OH. Nice country. Good hills. Old man Mike and I went on an adventure. Found our way back to the car seven hours later and via more than enough dirt gravel roads in Morrow county. Beautiful day. But it shot me and I ended up putting the bike away for the rest of the weekend. That’s ok though. Big week of training (14 hours) for me last week and the 100 coming on Saturday means lots of recovery this week.

What the fuck is the world coming to? It’d be awesome if she sticks with it but if it’s just a ‘cleanse‘ then whatever.

My next car? On you tube

When is this guy going to update his blog? Come on man!

Hey guys, if you could forward this message to all the birds you know, that’d be great…thanks!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANDY AND ANGELIQUE’S BIRD FEEDER IS BACK
Don’t worry, the cats in the window don’t go outside and will not eat you.
GALLOWAY, OHIO, May 25, 2008. After a nearly two-year hiatus, the bird feeder at 647 Perilous Place is back in business. Affectionately named the Car-dee-lu Cafeteria, (not really) the new venue is similar to the old model but with a more inviting location under a local tree. Birds will find the most economical yet hopefully somewhat nutritious birdseed that’s available at local retailers. And it’s not just for house sparrows. Cowbirds, house finches, chipping sparrows, and myriad waterfowl have been known to enjoy the cuisine.
The seed offerings will be replenished each day while supplies last. There are plans in the works for homemade suet. Angelique will prepare a blend of yellow cornmeal, flour, peanut butter, and shortening, sprinkled with raw sunflower seeds bought at Whole Foods about 365 days ago.
Angelique also has a message to her duck patrons: visit often, because there are some hot dog buns that are going to go stale in just a day or two!
For further information, look out the window.

Angelique and I have been trying to do at least one craft night per week. It’s nice. We sit and do our respective crafts and just chill. Here’s a few sample works:

This is a huge amazing project she’s working on. I can’t wait to see it done. Beautiful colors as always.

This is a collage I created for the Art Show I bailed out on. Didn’t think it was good enough.

And this is a page in a book I’ve been making. Just playing with color and composition really.

So there you have it. We actually get stuff done sometimes.

In other (bicycle) related news. Here’s a funny picture of me:rodehomelikethis.jpg
I had to pick up some team clothing from Blair on the way home. I have 3 skin suits, 3 bib shorts, a long sleeve jersey and a wind jacket jammed up the front and back of my jersey! Had nowhere else to put it. 1 hour ride home. Got some funny looks.

I can’t think of anything clever to describe the ass kicking I was given on Sunday. I had the bright idea of trying to race my rigid single speed in the peanut butter mud. Over geared it was equal parts push and drag as it was pedal. It was so soft and mushy I would just spin out on even the mellowest incline. Don’t know what masochistic world I came up with the idea but it wasn’t reality! I was mid-pack for the first 30 minutes before a flat tire took me out of contention for anything remotely close to a decent race. After that the mood was down and the self loathing I know all to well flooded my thoughts. Rolled in an hour after the winner. Terrible. Fuck it. With my dumb 1 hour singletrack warmup, I got in close to 4 hours of single speed rigid suffer-fest-ing. Positivo spin: Good training ride for the Mohican in two weeks.

it was a really nice birthday. I didn’t post about it yet, because I’m busy playing Webkinz. That’s the truth. The sad, sad truth. The other day I googled “Adults addicted to Webkinz” and found a bunch of guilty, sometimes even desperate, postings on message boards (i.e. “I have 40 Webkinz. Am I addicted?”

You see, we adults addicted to Webkinz need to be reassured that we are not alone. The other day, Trisha surprised me by sending me the very cute white platypus Webkinz! Andy named her Pickles. She’s my 7th “pet.” Am I addicted?
Okay, so Andy threw a surprise 30th birthday party for me, and I was totally shocked. I really had no clue at all. I didn’t expect it, and it was really special to me! I was embarrassed, though, too, because these people came just for me.

Of course, I didn’t bring my camera, because I didn’t know it was going to be happening…but Andy’s mom took some pictures, and I’ll get them from her.

Andy rounded up friends from work, from outside of work, and family, and there was lots of delicious food. Oh how I love my mother-in-law’s vegan dill potato salad!

Angelique found this gem of an image here. Truly amazing.

Racing tomorrow. It’s been so long. Looks like another mudfest. It’s rained everyday here this week. Might be a good day for the SS.  Today I’m chilling. Enjoy.
