You know. I was saying to myself I need to get back on the ball and start posting more… And then before I know it, it’s like 2 weeks between posts! Ouch.

Here’s my race report from last weekends Alum Creek mountain bike race:

I guess sometimes in life you’ve got to step up and take one in the gut. It hurts but just get up off the floor and get ready for the next one, because that’s what makes you better. Right?

Well, I (metaphorically) got a good shot in the gut on Sunday. But I picked myself up and I guess I’ll take another, thank you very much. It was my first expert race. It’s always been a goal of mine to move up to expert. After winning 5 out of 6 sport clydesdale races and a regular sport race this year, I thought screw it. Might as well take the leap now, in the end it will only make me a better racer, at least that’s the philosophical argument. The reality is it just plain hurts!

I think I did a respectable time. I don’t feel like I embarrassed myself. I was last of the experts but I beat a singlespeeder and a vet open rider and only finished 3 minutes behind the guy in front of me and less then 30 behind first place. My goal was/is to not get DFL, that one didn’t come true but I felt good with my performance. And Amanda crushed me! Nice job lady! She was flying.

I’m sure this is old news for all you cool kids, but some I know still haven’t read it: stolen underground

Was that not the best stage you’ve seen on Sunday! Man! Amazing. The chicken was flying and then the group of hopefuls with Contador and Mayo forming a pacl ahead of the studs (Vino, Menchov, Levi). What the hell was Moureu doing? Why not work together and put serious time into all the guys behind? At 36 years old you’d think he would know better. And Cadel, man he climbs like a mountain biker still. So sorry for Rogers. I was rooting for him. Great stage.

If you’re into race strategy (who isn’t!) and want to read an old pro’s view then check out Chris Carmichael’s daily email newsletter about the tour. Good stuff. Here’s his report from Monday’s stage.

So this weekend is the big step up. I’ve raced 8 mountain bike races this year and won 6 of them, 5 in sport clydesdale. So I figure I’ll give the expert category a try. I’ll get shelled but my goal is not get DFL. That’s all, just ride hard, push myself and not get DFL. Cross your fingers for me.

This is a funny t-shirt. Reminds me of working at Red Flag Media. The music rat race.

A link for all you vegan athletes.

Then this bullshit. Fuck Patrick.

Well, as you can see we haven’t been blogging much. Sorry! All this hot dry summer weather has got us outside keeping busy. Things are going good though. No complaints. Check back soon for updates! Enjoy your summer. Andy
