Last year I had some pretty lofty goals for myself. I’ve read that you have set good goals for yourself if some of them were accomplished but not all. That was definitely the case for last years cycling season. Here’s the goals I gave myself:

1. Organize/Start a weekly cyclocross practice session in Columbus, Ohio
I did this. Although turnout was lacking. Next year I’ll have to promote things better.

2. Organize 3-4 cyclocross races in Columbus, Ohio
No go. I tried getting four locations to allow a race but was turned down by all. This will be on the list again for next year.

3. Be competitive in the cyclocross B races
I was competitive in a few but got sick mid season and had some terrible luck at a few races also. It was a great season though.

4. Build a single speed 29er
5. Race as many mtb races as possible. Good training for cyclocross (on singlespeed)
I bought a Monocog 29er but quicky realized I would kill myself racing on it. So I got my old Trek mt. bike back and did a few races with it. Racing mt. bikes rekindled my love with single track. Good times.

6. Have FUN riding with friends
I didn’t get to do a lot of tours this year. I was to busy racing all the time. I’ve got to add a few tours this year.

7. Devote all/most training to speed not endurance.
Well, this was a success but I don’t think it was wise. I was great in a crit but I would always fade towards the end of hard cross races.

8. Develop a training guide/self-coaching to strictly follow.
So-so results for this one. I worked harder but now I see that my training wasn’t structured enough to train properly.

Well, that was last years. Next year is coming shortly.

This will make you pee (well, maybe not but it is funny!).

Things are quite. I got my new bike last weekend but it rained for four days straight. I was freaking out, must have made Angelique crazy. Me sitting on my bike in the middle of the living room complaining about the weather. At least it’s been so cold the trails are now frozen, so I’ll be able to get out this weekend on it. That’s one good thing about the sudden blast of ice cold weather here.

Here’s some links…

Oh the irony of this photo.

I swear he’s an alien. Stefano.

Adobe created Kuler. Looks pretty interesting.

Hey Angelique, Isn’t this cool? We should do something like this. I dig it.
From Danger.uk.com

This is just plain goofy: Boonen as a gladiator for the new Northwave campaign. This one is for Trisha, I remember she was looking through a Cyclo Sport magazine over the summer and commented on Boonen.

Things are happening though. As reported by Angelique, we got a dog!!! Lucy! She’s great. Fit’s in perfect with our house. The kids (Carlos and Deezer) are beginning to warm up to her. I even caught Carlos wanting to play a little this morning, but Lucy didn’t have a clue how to respond. Soon Carlos will be chasing her all around the house.

She’s great to walk. I don’t use a leash and she just hangs out and walks with me. She listens and responds to my commands. Very good Lucy!

I bought a new bike! WHAT!!! Got a new mountain bike to race on this year. A Gary Fisher Paragon 29er. It should arrive in a week or two. Can’t wait. My old Trek 6700 is just beat to hell. Dead. This one is such a step up, I can’t wait. Disc brakes! Very excited.
Thanks to Trek Store Columbus for the hook up.

Cool things:
Want to take a tour of Cannondale’s manufacturing area?

I built a site for the new racing team I joined. It doesn’t have much info yet but once the season kicks in it will.

i don’t have a lot of good photos of lucy yet…she doesn’t really stand still for the camera. she’s a good girl. i’m just waiting for carlos and her to start being friends. i know it’s only been 4 days, but still. now it seems like carlos is getting used to her, and lucy is getting a little bit territorial. she shows her teeth at carlos if he comes too close! and she seems to cry when we put her in her crate at night. she eventually falls asleep, but we have to ask ourselves, what would cesar do?

lucy is such a good dog, though. i have to tell myself that everything takes time. lucy is probably still wondering what the heck she’s still doing at our house, anyway. i took a picture of lucy meeting the neighbor corgi, seamus. seamus is really cute, and he’s only 8 months old. you could almost see in the picture that he’s a bundle of crazy puppy energy. i haven’t been feeling good the past day or two, and lucy has been laying with me on the bed and on the couch. sweetie girl!

carlos lays with me too. they’re both comforting their sickly mama. deezer is always around, too. she stays out of trouble. we knew deez would be alright. but i don’t feel like being on the computer anymore right now, so it’s time to lay down again. come on, guys! party on the couch!

yesterday, we welcomed a new addition to our family: lucy the corgi. i have been wishing for a corgi dog for a while, and i fortunately found a lovely woman on craigslist who needed to find a good home for lil’ miss lucy.

so how is she getting on with “the kids?” well… since i’m prone to freak-outs, i’ve been a bit of a wreck because it’s not instant peace and harmony. carlos and deedee were good with her for the first hour. then the other stuff started. it’s almost like carlos and deezer are now one united front against lucy. (at least they’ll get along better with each other, then.) but they don’t try to hurt her or chase her, they just kind of block doorways and give her the evil eye and stuff. lucy is very nice and non-confrontational, so she just gets nervous to walk past them.

lucy is such a nice girl, and she listens well. so i think that sooner or later, the kids will learn to love her. things are better already, actually. this morning, i was knitting on the couch, and carlos came up in his usual way and laid on my right side while lucy laid on my left. and carlos slept on my lap when i was on the computer, and lucy wasn’t but six inches away.

so it’s gonna be okay! i know it! so let’s give a warm welcome to lucy! lucy’s a cutie. she has a cutie corgi butt. here it is:

yay lucy!

but don’t update my own. well, hey. what can i say. but i was looking at the small object and then started reading the accompanying blog. it’s all just utterly delightful! i looooove it! she makes such good stuff!
