Angelique hates this band, but I think this is a pretty amazing performance…

I’ll give myself a C+ on this one. It started out crappy, got a little worse, then finished so-so. Another skull drawing for the series…

Tawd’s getting this sweet zombie on his thigh. Here’s the first session. Lot’s of fun. Can’t wait for our second session in a few weeks.

Days like today remind me of my yoots, when we’d just skate all day, smoke cigarettes and cause havoc. Oh, the good old days…

Just did this little sketch last night. I’m up to 10 for the skulls project. I’d like to have 40-50 for the book. Keep working…

So I have an intern to help me at work…

I made a catalog of my sketches for 2009. It’s not all of them (you don’t want to see the failures), just the ones I think might be worth looking at again. It’s 42 pages long and has about 70 sketches in it. Black and white on grey card stock and bound by Staples. They’re available at Cap City Tattoo or contact me. Cost is $20 each.

Here’s a skull I did last night. I’m trying to make a book of skull drawings. I’ve done almost a dozen now. I’d like to get into the 50+ range. I’m guessing it will take almost a year to do. Why? Repetition and simplicity opens your mind and creative thinking to new ideas. By doing the same thing over and over, you can refine and explore new ways of doing the same thing over and over. So skulls? Yeah, it’s not that I think they’re dark and creepy and evil. I don’t really view them like that at all. It’s a beautiful object with cracks and bumps and textures, it has hidden perspective and shapes that although seem easy can be a challenge. And add to that, the history in both fine art and mainly tattooing that the skull has and I love it. Good stuff.

Sigh, I finally got it fixed. (kind of). As you can see, I’m going to have to redesign it because the old ’style’ was crashing the front end. And I also lost about 50% of my images. That’s a huge bummer. But at least it’s back up and running…

I got to start a tattoo of one of my favorite animals a few days ago. Here’s an image of the first session:

It’s on Christy’s calf and wraps around it, pretty big. Can’t wait to add the color. FUN TIMES!
